IT is still standing strong. The economy as a whole may be struggling, but IT services firms are experiencing record employment growth.

  • According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, employment in the information supersector is expected to grow by 6.9 percent, adding 212,000 jobs by 2016. Increased demand for software is among areas predicted to fuel growth, http://www.bls.gov.

  • After growing revenue 13.1 percent in 2005 and 11.8 percent in 2006, the typical (median) IT services firm repeated its strong double-digit performance—posting revenue growth of growth of 11.2 percent. While the typical firm saw strong revenue growth, the top quartile did even better—increasing 14.5 percent. These statistics were reported in the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses’ (NACCB) recently published 2008 Operating Practices Report, the industry’s largest and most comprehensive benchmarking survey.
